Hurt Locker
Hurt Locker opening scene is set in Iraq and is about a bomb disposal unit disarming a bomb. It was going well until a piece of equipment broke that then put one of he soldiers in danger as he had to carry the bomb disposal unit to the bomb.
One of the first shots of this scene is a high angle shot. This is could be show a point of view of someone above but here it is used to establish the location. Its shows that it’s a very dull sandy place and everything is the same colour even the soldiers. The colours of the scene could be seen as ironic because the film or the situation isn’t boring at all as bombs are seen as action packed because of big explosions but the scene and the colours in the scene suit it very well and looks realistic in my opinion. This shot could also represent the fear of the soldiers in Afghanistan showing them as small and frightened of their situation almost as if something bigger and more powerful is looking down at them. This shot is followed by close up shots of the soldiers talking to prepare themselves, talking and loading their guns.
